Sadly, it was the duo's last completed score before Ashman's untimely death at age 41. This soundtrack contains more-conventional show music than The Little Mermaid, owing in large part to Broadway stalwart Angela Lansbury and to Jerry Orbach's Yves Montand impersonation. Most of the songs here were included in the subsequent Broadway adaptation and its cast album, but this disc is superior in its studio polish and cast, which is better suited to the score. --John Sanchez | | | Product Details: | | | Audio CD Release Date:

Beauty and the Beast In love with it then in love with it now!Oct 26, 2009 I really loved this item. I wanted to purchase the music since I was a little girl and I kept getting the "broadway version" but in the end this is the best. If you like Alan Menken's Music my suggestion is to go for this.
Classic soundtrack for a classic filmSep 16, 2009 I don't know why I waited so long to buy the soundtrack for this movie. I first saw the movie probably 15 years ago, and among Disney films, the story is one of my favorites. The music (both the songs with lyrics and the score) is a great reflection of the story line itself: the humor, the romance, the action, and even the sad parts. I also like that there is so much dialogue within the soundtrack. Also, having never seen the special edition of the movie, I had never heard the track "Human Again". That was a fun song, remeniscent of "Be Our Guest". Overall, a wonderful album for fans of Disney films and music.
Beauty and the Beast SoundtrackMay 30, 2009 I received the soundtrack very quickly from momzmedia. I needed it fast for a gift, and they got it to me fast. Great transaction.
Not the one I ordered...Apr 17, 2009 Well this clears things up a bit. I didn't recall buying the original broadway production, and that's 'cause I bought this one, although I received the Broadway version. Guess I'll have to give it another go. But I think both are worth it. If you loved this one, and have never heard the Beauty&Beast Broadway version, it's rather charming, too. So, I liked it enough, apparently to try to buy it twice. lol
(bought from go-hastings, check your products from there twice, 'kay?)
Beauty and the Beast: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFeb 07, 2009 A very enjoyable CD. That is what we expect from Disney & that is what we get. Although the movie is essentially a childrens story I know I enjoy it just as much as the grandkids do. Just a kid at heart still. The music score is just lovely to listen to & sing along with. A must for Grandparents to have in their collection.
